One of the most unique features about my blog is the special focus I put on female musicians within the sludge, stoner, doom and post-metal sub-genres. Women of Sludge Metal Appreciation Week is a bi-annual feature which showcases the talents of many of these women, and I have gotten some of them to answer my “five question interviews”.
Women of Sludge Metal: An Analysis is an in-depth article that examines women’s roles in metal, and how the women of sludge/stoner/doom/post metal have broken out of those traditional roles. It’s a good read, and it also serves as an introduction to certain aspects of the scene that newcomers may not be aware of.
