Got it? Good. JOIN US.
Pretty excited about starting this feature up again, and the Facebook group has helped me to find more amazing women to interview. This time around, there should be some more special content. Every time I do this, it gets a little bigger and bigger, and I couldn’t be happier :)
Artists who are slated to be interviewed this time around include B (Rwake), Therese Lanz (KEN Mode, Mares of Thrace), Alicia Morgan (13), Meg Castellanos (Totimoshi) and the ladies of Seattle doom trio Grey. I’m also aiming to get Lori from Acid King this time around, seeing as how her touring schedule prevented her from being interviewed last April. We’ll see!
Actually, the interview with B (Rwake vocalist/keyboardist) was completed last night and she told me that once I post it up, she’ll send the link to Relapse :3
In the meantime while I sort all of this stuff out, check out some interviews I did during Part II:
Julie Christmas (Made out of Babies/Battle of Mice)
Taz Corona-Brown and Hel Sterne (Undersmile)
Chiyo Nukaga (Noothgrush, Graves at Sea, a million other bands!)
Claire Horrocks (Bastard of the Skies)
Liz Buckingham (13, Sourvein, Electric Wizard)
Enjoy!
Not by me, but by the lovely dadsucks. Check it out!

Gonna send this link to Stevie in a few minutes :)
Mike and Stevie….aww awww awww aww
Okay, this is just too cute.
I fucking love Stevie Floyd & @darkcastlemetal

Stevie’s speaking voice is in the same register that mine is. The sad thing is that I had a register that deep when I was about 12 years old. As a result, people would call me a lezzy or trannie all the time, or start up with this “you sound like a man!” bullshit.
Well sorry I don’t have one of these over-exaggerated high-pitched sugary girly girl voices. Not every one can sound like a valley girl when they talk or like Mariah Carey when they sing. Remember how sexy of a voice women like Toni Braxton and T-Boz of TLC had? They were definitely not sopranos, or even altos. They had “manly” registers, and it was damn hot.
Yeah, I’m in the mood to rant this morning…anyway, I find it interesting that Dark Castle are experimenting with Hungarian and Japanese scales…I can’t say I’ve ever noticed them in their music before, but then again, it’s not my area of expertise.
FUN STORY TIME, KIDS. GATHER ‘ROUND.
Last Saturday while at the salon, I was checking my phone for new messages. Much to my satisfaction, Laura had sent me a few pictures to use in honor of this week’s festivities. This is the picture she originally wanted to be submitted with her interview, but I think it deserves its very own post.
In Laura’s own words:
“The one of me and Stevie is from SXSW at the weird club we played. I thought the title for the ladies room was a bit ridiculous and offensive so I had someone take a pic of the two dirtiest bitches in front of it. LOL”
The only unfortunate thing is that I started howling laughing while the stylist was putting the dye in my hair. Everyone probably thought there was something wrong with me (wait, there isn’t?). Either way, this photo is just badass. Laura and Stevie know how to represent…haha!!!
Name: STEVIE FLOYD
Bands You’ve Played In:
I play guitar and shriek in Dark Castle. I also played guitar in Cystic Dysentery prior to Dark Castle…and many other bands when I was younger.
What are your favorite songs to perform live?
Surrender To All Life Beyond Form, Heavy Eyes, Awake In Sleep, Into The Past
Did you have any female rock idols growing up? Who were they?
Stevie Nicks, Lita Ford, The Great Kat, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Sean Yseult of White Zombie, The Wives
Your advice to girls who want to start their own metal bands is…
Do it!…And do it right… Play down the “chick in a metal band” stereo type, and play the hell out of your instrument instead. At the end of the day it will give you more of a thrill and more fulfillment than any human or other thing on Earth.

I love metal women with their own style. I especially love how Stevie Floyd wears those fringey Pocahontas looking boots! I’ve always thought that they looked bad, unless you’re Pocahontas of course, but wowowowow after watching her in countless different pairs I really want some now.
Stevie Floyd appreciation blog*~
I’ve heard some people call Stevie their “fashion icon”. She’d LOL at that pretty hard :P
