Something odd I just noticed - Lacuna Coil’s “Trip The Darkness” and Sleigh Bells’ “Comeback Kid” feature very similar imagery.
In both music videos, the traditionally brunette front-women Cristina Scabbia and Alexis Krauss have invented blond alter-egos of themselves swathed in a dark backdrop. VigilantCitizen would probably say this was symbolic of the contrasting “dark” and “light” personalities that mind control victims develop.
Love her, love Sleigh Bells, love love love love.
Sleigh Bells | “You Lost Me”
I’ll never lie to you
But I’ll never have to tell the truth
motherFUCK this is pretty. This might be my favorite song on the new album.
Sleigh Bells | “Demons”
STAND ‘EM UP 6 BY 6 BY 6
Well this sounds evil as fuck. I’ve listened to about 1/2 the songs off of Reign of Terror this morning, and I’m starting to form opinions. It’s not as good as Treats, and some of the songs are kind of tedious, but the good songs are really fucking good. This is one of the really fucking good songs.
Wish they would come back to Nashville or ATL soon. Still kicking myself in the ass for skipping the after-party they hosted the last time I saw them. There’s always a next time, I suppose.
SLEIGH BELLS | “COMEBACK KID”
ALEXIS ‘CRUSHES IT’
This is phenomenal. I’m in love with this video, with Alexis, with Derek, with the sound. This is another point of reference I’m going to be using for my band mates when they’re trying to figure out what sound I’m going for. It’s basically this, but sludgier and with a little more Southern twang.
SLEIGH BELLS | “Born To Lose”
New Sleigh Bells!!! If it was a little more fuzzed out, this would amost sound like something I could hear Kylesa doing. Very catchy, dreamy, but harsh at the same time. Diggin’ it.
A little teaser for the new upcoming Sleigh Bells album, Reign of Terror. Yeah, I’m a little late posting this due to the fact that it dropped the same day as the Missing Link fest, but still…NEW SLEIGH BELLS!
AND LISTEN TO HOW FUCKING CHUNKY AND EVIL THAT RIFF SOUNDS. I think the rumors are probably true that this album is going to be much heavier and more metal-tinged than their debut effort. This is the 2012 release that I’m currently the most excited about :)
