I think I’ve fallen in love with this man. Well, at least I’m in love with his music and his voice. The prospect of a possible Mastodon and Opeth tour gives me a huge glimmer of hope for the months to come. Considering that I am taking six classes right now and this is my last semester of college before I graduate in May, a Mastodon/Opeth show would be a great graduation present.
Add in a full work schedule and rehearsals with the new band I’m in (I’m the front woman!), there is little time for play. Still, late at night, I think about Mikael’s voice and just feel warm and fuzzy all over. He is beyond amazing. If I see Brann at that show, I will literally beg him to let me back stage so I can meet Opeth, Mikael especially. Seeing Brann and Mikael together might make me faint. So much talent concentrated in one space.
…Heh, but enough of my babbling. Also, Melvins are playing a show with Unsane in Nashville the night before my graduation ceremony on May 5th. Maybe if I’m a good girl, I’ll get two Graduation presents :3
Jeff Buckley, born Nov. 17th, 1966, would have been 45 years old today. Celebrating with a lot of good fucking music I was lucky enough to even hear on mainstream radio when it was coming out! The perks of Los Angeles. But as for his not still being around to continue his art is quite sad.
<3
Jeff’s cover of “Lilac Wine” is amazing. I love the original Eartha Kitt Version, but Jeff Buckley…damn it, Jeff is starting to own my uterus. His voice was a gift of God.
DAMN IT ALANNA YOU BROUGHT MY JEFF BUCKLEY OBSESSION BACK.
PURPLE LEOPARD PRINT THONG FTW.
I suddenly have the urge to get in Laura Pleasant’s pants.
Who doesn’t these days? She’s the reigning queen of Sludge Metal. To quote Chelsea Handler, “I’m not a lesbian, but I would be one for a couple of minutes with her” XD
Everybody’s uploading their summer jams today, so here’s mine:
DEFTONES - “MY OWN SUMMER”
Hey you, big star
Tell me when it’s over (cloud)
Hey you, big mood
Guide me to shelter
cause i’m through
When the two
hits the six
and it’s summer
Cloud
Come (shove it) [x3]
Shove (shove it) [x3]
The sun (shove it) [x3]
Aside (shove it aside)
I think god is moving its tongue
There’s no crowd in the streets
And no sun in my own summer
