I sincerely hope that each and every one of my followers had a happy and safe holiday season. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Kylesa show on New Year’s Eve because of transportation problems. This was a major disappointment, as I wanted to ring in the new year in style. Oh well, there’s always next time.
Anyway, I’m working on some goodies for all of you, including the aforementioned new article series Beyond Doomed, and I am beginning the preparations for the 4th Edition of Women of Sludge Metal Appreciation Week, which will arrive in March.
Thank you for sticking with me! This blog will get back to not sucking in the very near future, I promise! ^^’
In the “real” problems post:
Numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 15 have all happened to me.
In the “not real problems” post:
All numbers have happened to me at some point.
Some times the “real” problems didn’t hurt as much as the “not real” problems.
It’s all in life experiences.
And Carrboro is very, very far away. About the same distance from Chattanooga as Jacksonville, Florida. Travelling on a Greyhound bus round-trip is going to cost well over $200. That’s $200 that I still can’t afford to throw around.
Unless somebody steps up to the plate, it looks like my dreams of going to the High on Fire/Kylesa gig are dashed. Still don’t understand why the fuck they couldn’t at least have one date in Tennessee - Nashville would have sufficed. Why not Georgia, either? Atlanta would have been possible. Hell, Huntsville, Alabama isn’t far away. At least somewhere closer than a little town outside of Durham that Greyhound doesn’t even directly travel to.
Finding someone in Chattanooga who wants to make a road trip on a Wednesday is near impossible because of work. The few friends who are out of a job are either going to school or have…err…other reasons why they couldn’t do this. The truth is that I hate going to shows alone, so having a friend there would make the trip that much better. Also, none of my friends really give a shit about the music I listen to.
Still have about six weeks to figure something out…any suggestions?
PLEASE READ THIS AND HELP ME OUT HERE.
For the past few days some idiot has been making fake accounts on YouTube and harrassing me on my videos. The first one, cleverly titled “WeHateDoro”, left comments on the only two videos I had related to Andy Hurley that basically said I was a “hypocrite” for admiring him.
Oooookay.
I didn’t respond to the jackass but instead just blocked him/her/it as a user. Lo and behold, the smart little critter re-surfaced as “WeHateDoro2” and left more insulting comments on the same two videos. I had to block the user all over again and remove all comments.
It was then and only then that I found out that some forum for drummers linked one of my videos and, after having a lengthy “is it a man or a woman?” debate, they decided to collectively troll me.
I’m guessing they’re unemployed at the moment.
Now I’m not new to this kind of heckling. I’ve received death threats online for my outspoken opinions and dealt with other general tomfoolery. A few months ago I had uploaded a vocal cover of a Mastodon song and it got linked to the band’s official forum, and all the pricks who post there decided to flame the hell out of me, because:
A. They can’t determine my gender, and
B. Oh Bloody Hell, someone actually tried to sing!
It doesn’t matter how many shitty guitar covers they post online, if someone sings it’s an automatic death sentence. I just removed the video because I was tired of dealing with it, plus I realized that I wasn’t doing the band any justice.
So here’s how I need your help - is there a way I could contact someone at YouTube and block this user by IP address?
