Writing is something that I love to do, just as much as I love going to shows. Naturally, I like to combine my passions for writing and music together. It’s fun doing such on this blog, but I would like to make a living from my music-based writing. Somebody give me a job!
After May 2012, I’m planning on moving to Atlanta, so any Atlanta-area magazines, publications, or websites who need a music columnist or a music reviewer should consider hiring me. Why should you hire me? Well, for one thing, I have a long history of administrating/moderating independent fan sites for various bands. Currently I am the webmaster for Fuck Yeah Mastodon, Fuck Yeah Kylesa, and Fuck Yeah Baroness. In the past, I have held down admin/mod positions for fan sites dedicated to System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Fall out Boy, and others, just to name a few.
Also, I do have a good reputation with a few people in the music industry. I’m not saying that I’m close/buddy-buddy with anybody, but I am on acquaintance terms with different bands on the sludge/stoner/doom metal underground, especially bands from the ATL, Savannah, and Oakland/Bay Area scenes. Both Fuck Yeah Mastodon and Fuck Yeah Kylesa are approved by the bands they’re dedicated to - Brann Dailor and Laura Pleasants keep watchful eyes on the content I post and keep in touch with me in case any information reported about bands is incorrect or incomplete.
If you need examples of my writing style and further proof of what I’m capable of, here are links to a few articles I’ve written as a part of my now discontinued Hypersymbolic series:
Swans: The Most Influential Band You’ve Never Heard
Black Diamond Skye: A Lyrical Analysis
Your Own Personal Ahab II: Patrick Stump
Women of Sludge Metal: An Analysis (This is one is my baby; very proud of it)
If you’re interested in paying me to write for your publication, especially if your publication is based in the ATL area, email me: codeaires@gmail.com. You can also hit up my ask box. Give me a chance! Thank you!
